The Poker Grapevine – Mizrachi to Play in One Drop

For Michael Mizrachi, winning the prestigious $50k Poker Players Championship is apparently turning into routine. After all, he is the only player who has thus far managed to win the poker tournament twice. He has also found a pretty unconventional use for his PPC prize: this year, he will use it to buy into the Big One for One Drop. The power of the Big One, the biggest tournament in poker history, featuring a buy-in of $1 million is truly amazing indeed. Something that can turn the $50k PPC into a mere satellite has to be an impressive event indeed. In a post-victory interview, the Grinder said he would use his PPC prize to buy into the Big One. That will leave him with a $400k profit still, given the fact that he took down $1.4 million for his PPC top spot.
Another player who confirmed he would be playing too, was Tom Marchese. Besides those who confirmed participation, there were withdrawals too: banker Andy Beal is said to have dropped out of the event. Exactly why he did, isn’t yet known, but it may have something to do with some of the other participants sharpening their claws in anticipation of the upcoming fish-feast.
By Friday morning, 36 players had posted the $1 million buy-in, with several more about to join the fray. According to the organizers, the 48 player cap will be reached before kick-off.

In other news: poker pro Matt Glantz, who is quite a regular in some of the big East Coast games, and who has around $4 million in live poker tournament earnings, has been appointed the official ambassador of the Parx Casino in Philadelphia. Glantz is definitely not a bad choice to represent the interests of a live poker operation: he’s already made a couple of final tables at the 2012 WSOP.
Glantz said that it was his goal to turn the Parx Casino into the top live poker destination of the East Coast.
