The Poker Grapevine – Negreanu Chimes in on 2013 WSOP

With the 2013 WSOP in the books, most of the pros involved in the action returned to their homes. Daniel Negreanu was one of them: he returned to Toronto and after a bit of rest, he fired out one of his famous rants, summarizing the Series and taking a look at his personal accomplishments.
One thing that he seemed particularly pleased about was the fact that he had managed to steer clear of alcohol all through the Series and that he stuck to his pre-determined workout schedule, despite the fact that – on at least a couple of occasions – it turned out to be a counterproductive approach.
Despite being pleased with how her had performed, Negreanu said he was going to tweak his approach further for next year’s Series. According to the PokerStars pro, his #1 enemy at the green felt – and probably that of every other poker professional too – was lack of sleep and he was going to target the source of that problem. He also said he was going to skip working out on Day 2s.

He then went on presenting a series of charts, illustrating his WSOP results from a variety of angles. The bottom line appears to be that Negreanu is something of a stats-geek. He cares about the various ranking systems many of the experts don’t really give half a dime about, and he is keen on winning as many as possible. In regards to the WSOP Player of the Year race, he said he was extremely interested in that too and that he was looking to bounce back through some of the upcoming European events. As to whether or not Australian and European events should count for the race, he said he saw no reason why they shouldn’t.
