The Poker Grapevine – Nevada Rolls Closer to Online Poker Legalization

While the issue of legal online gambling and online poker is still something of a taboo in many US States, Nevada took the lead on the matter a long time ago and it seems bent on making the above said activities legal in the state, while efficiently regulating and policing them. The latest developments saw two more corporate entities interested in obtaining a Nevada interactive gaming license gain preliminary approval.
The two companies are American Casino and Entertainment Proprieties LLC, the operation behind the Stratosphere and two more brick and mortar gambling venues in Las Vegas, and WMS Industries Inc. a maker of slot machines.
The two potential interactive gaming operators received the approval from a 3-member panel of the Nevada Gaming Control Board. The final word on the two licenses will be delivered by the Nevada Gaming Commission in September.

While WMS have already linked up with the 888 Group in order to launch a real money online poker service as soon as they get the final approval on their license application, ACEP are still looking for a business-to-business service provider to set up their own online poker platform. Given the amount of interest Nevada’s incursions into legal online poker have thus far generated though, teaming up with a reputable online poker operator will probably be a mere formality for the company.
Under the agreement that WMS have struck with 888 Poker, WMS will be responsible for the distribution and marketing of 888 products in various land based casinos in the US. The said products will initially be free to play ones.
888 have also applied for a Nevada gaming license.

In other news: the second Day 1 flight of the UKIPT’s Newcastle Main Event saw 364 players belly up the tables. At the end of the day, Brett Angell was the one sitting behind the largest stack of chips. Jude Ainsworth was among the survivors, together with Sam Razavi.
