The Poker Grapevine – Patrick Antonius on Full Tilt

Patrick Antonius had been one of the top online players at Full Tilt Poker prior to Black Friday. He was an employee of the site basically. He was also regarded by many as one of the biggest winners ever to play at the site. Antonius played in some of the biggest nosebleed stakes games, and he was even engaged in a million dollar challenge with Tom Dwan, a challenge which never came to fruition. In the wake of the Black Friday indictments, Antonius has pretty much disappeared though. Not only did he leave the online scene, with the exception of a couple of live vents in Las Vegas, he didn’t seem to play poker at all. He re-surfaced in Cannes at the WSOPE though, and reporters didn’t miss the opportunity to pick his mind a little regarding the Full Tilt Poker ordeal.
Antonius said that he would quite probably be among the biggest losers if the site went under. He said he had lots of money stuck at FTP and given the size of the bankroll that he had kept there, that is quite believable indeed.
There are folks out there though who seem to think that Antonius has less than $100 stuck in his Full Tilt Poker account. The argument is that not being a US resident, Antonius was not directly affected by the Black Friday indictments, therefore he had two and a half months to cash his money out. The only problem is the following Black Friday, Full Tilt didn’t really make it possible for rank and file Europeans to cash out either, although Antonius might indeed have been an exception.
According to a representative of the Finn pro though, Antonius still has ‘significant financial interest’ in the site.
In other news: Roberto Luongo of the Vancouver Canucks is the latest celebrity to throw his endorsement behind an online poker site. Luongo has been spotted shooting a commercial for the government-owned site PlayNow.com.
