The poker grapevine – Peter Eastgate selling his 2008 Main Event bracelet

2008 WSOP Main Event winner Peter Eastgate has apparently had enough of being the sole possessor of the one and only gold bracelet awarded to the winner of the 2008 Big Dance. The Dane has decided to auction off his trophy on eBay. When asked about the reasons that led up to this decision, Eastgate said that he found no use for the bracelet whatsoever and it was sitting around doing nothing but collecting dust anyway. All the money resulting from the sale will be donated to UNICEF, so one thing is certain: there are no financial woes behind the move.
Those who want to own a piece of the WSOP history, will have to cough up at least $16,000 but probably much-much more than that, as that is the sum where the auction starts.

In other news: the APT’s Macau Main Event has a new champion in Zhang Dan Peng. Peng’s win marks the first time ever that a Chinese national manages to grab an APT Macau title. Part of a nine day poker festival, the APT Macau tournament attracted a whole bunch of big poker names from all over the world, including Tom Dwan, John Juanda and Phil Ivey. None of these “name” players managed to even come close to winning though. The winner walked away with $215,000 first prize.

The Venetian Hotel and Casino will play host to the third annual All in for CP charity event, a poker tournament proceedings of which shall be donated to the One Step Closer Foundation. Numerous professional players are expected to participate, among them Jason Alexander, Sam Simon and Montel Williams.
The buy-in will be $550 and players will have an option to rebuy for $200 later. What better way is there to have a little poker fun than by helping out where needed while at it?
