The Poker Grapevine – Poker770 Merges with Chilipoker

Starting with March 1, Chilipoker has melted into Poker770, players, funds and everything. Chilipoker has long been looking for a way to break into the US market – if and when it gets regulated of course – as well as other regulated markets. Moves towards this goal began several weeks ago when the online poker site struck an agreement with the Golden Nugget to provide a play-money poker platform for the live casino operator. This was followed by a deal with Bally Technologies and it all culminated with the above said merger with Poker770. The actual merger has been completed on March 2 and all of Chilipoker’s players have been transferred to Poker770. The transfer procedure was fully automated and players have hardly been affected at all. All they needed to do was to log into their Chilipoker accounts and to click an update link which would launch the wizard automatically.
Chilipoker players will enjoy am interface much superior to the Chilipoker one in pretty much every way. Poker770 is also proud to offer them a fully regulated and much improved online poker experience.
Player accounts and funds have been transferred unaltered as everything seems to have gone down smoothly.

In other news: Team PokerStars Pro’s Jonathan Duhamel has lead the Global Poker Index’s ongoing Player of the Year contest for a while and in recent days he’s managed to extend his lead. The contest will present an award to the player who puts in the strongest live tournament performance during the calendar year.
The move responsible for extending Duhamel’s lead was his second place finish in the 2012 LA Poker Classic’s $5,100 NL Holdem event, which netted him a prize of $121.1k.
Faraz Jaka is currently second on the GPI list, followed by Sam Chartier and Jason Koon. Jaka has jumped into 2nd following his 3rd place finish in the LA Poker Classic’s above said $5.1k NL Holdem event. Jaka has made a total of 3 final tables in 2012.
