PokerStars marks its 10th anniversary with a series of special events, each of which represents yet another opportunity for players to grab extra value. The site will play host to the biggest ever Sunday Million, in addition to which, it will also give away 100 seats to the
PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. These two deals alone are worth hundreds of thousands in extra prizes, but there’s more. The site will attempt to break the Guinness world record for the biggest ever online poker tournament. PokerStars were actually responsible for the setting of the previous such record too: in 2009, in a $1 buy-in tournament, 149,196 players took their chances. The winner of that event was a player known by the online moniker oskar69 and he ended up taking home $50k. PokerStars are now obviously aiming to beat that record through another such $1 event. The event will take place on December 4, it will feature a NL Holdem structure and a guaranteed prize-pool of $250k.
Team PokerStars Pro members will play too and those who manage to knock out one of the pros will receive a $10 bounty.
Team PokerStars pro Betrand Grospellier said he was excited about the opportunity to be part of yet another world record. The Frenchman is the current holder of the multi-tabling world record.
In other news:
PartyPoker have announced the 12-player lineup for their PartyPoker.com Premier League Poker Mixed Game Championship. The Event kicks off on November 13 and lasts till November 17. Entry to the event is invitation only and the buy-in costs $25k.
The 12 players are: Tony G, Mike Sexton, Max Pescatori, Andrew Feldman, Sorel Mizzi, Ben Carpenter, Matt Giannetti, Luke Schwartz, Yevgeniy Timoshenko, Jennifer Tilly, Andy Frankengberger and James Dempsey.
The event will include 3 poker variants: NL Holdem, PL Holdem and PLO. There will be two groups of 6 players battling it out.
