The Poker Grapevine – PPT and UKIPT Updates

Even as Patrick Partouche announced the end of the Partouche Poker Tour, Day 3 of this year’s Main Event rolled on as the field played down to the final 47 players. 122 players bellied up to the tables at the beginning of the day, among them scores of ‘name’ players, most of who were obviously quite upset about the issues surrounding the guaranteed prize-pool of the poker tournament. By the end of the day, several of these players were on the rail though. Michael Mizrachi was eliminated, together with Mohsin Charania, Fabrice Soulier and Davidi Kitai. Several others managed to navigate the treacherous waters of day 3 well though. Tristan Wade, one of the players who verbally confronted Patrick Partouche about the advertised and then reneged on €5 million guarantee, did well and survived the day on a decent stack. David Williams survived as well, albeit behind a short stack of only 148k chips.

Kyle Julius was among the survivors too: he ended the day with a stack of 227k chips. Other players who advanced were Justin Bonomo, Andrew Lichtenberger and Antoine Saout.
Ole Scemion finished the day with the largest stack, well ahead of Karen Sarkisyan. Paul Tedeschi, the start of the day chip leader, finished in 3rd place.

In other news: the UKIPT’s 3rd season kicked off the other day in Newcastle. The first day 1 flight of the Main Event saw 246 players belly up to the tables. Richard Sinclair, the reigning champion of the tournament played as well, however his title defense fell well short of its goal as he was eliminated during the early going. About 117 players made it past the day 1A hurdle, among them Alan Tinlin, who managed to build a stack of 93k chips, large enough to clinch him the provisional chip lead.
Sam Holden and Jack Elwood were among the survivors as well. Holden finished 9th with a stack of 34k chips.
