The Main Event of the 2012 Partouche Poker Tour wrapped up on Sunday, playing down to a winner for the last time. Even after Patrick Partouche back-tracked on his decision not to grant the €5 million guarantee on account of which a genuine meltdown ensued at PPT headquarters, offering up the missing €700k+ quite possibly from his own pockets, he didn’t backtrack on his announcement that the Partouche Poker Tour would not return for another season after this one.
On Sunday, the remaining 6 players returned to the final table to play down to a winner. When the dust settled, Ole Schemion was sitting with all the chips in play stacked up in front of him, a full €1,172,850 richer. To get to the top, Schemion outplayed an initial starting field of 489 players. The final table wasn’t going to be a walk in the park for him either: there were two ‘name’ players still in contention who posed quite a bit of a challenge: Dan O’Brien and Aaron Lim. Marcello Marigliano and Fabrice Touil rounded up the top 6. Touil was the first one to go from the final table. He picked up a €223.4k reward for his efforts. He was followed to the rail by Marigliano who earned €267k for his 5th place.
Dan O’Brien wrecked his stack in 4th, while Aaron Lim lasted a little more, busting out in 4th place.
The heads-up stage of the event saw Schemion square off against Karen Sarkisyan.
The final hand of the
poker tournament saw Schemion’s Kh, 2h hit a flush on the flop against Sarkisyan’s A,9o. The heads-up action lasted only for about 20 minutes. The reward of the runner-up was €693.4k.
In other news: Madrid will be the scene of a Vegas-like mega-resort which will be known as EuroVegas. Sands CEO Sheldon Adelson is the main driving force behind the project. Adelson recently managed to strike a deal with Madrid’s regional government regarding the deal.
