The Poker Grapevine – SCOOP Update and More

As you already know, on Monday, all three Main Events of the 2013 Spring Championship on Online Poker wrapped up at PokerStars, and Viktor Blom walked away with the $1 million+ top prize offered by the High version. There were two other Main Events unfolding too though, and every one of them featured at least a $1 million guarantee.
The low version of the Main Event, the $109 one, offered an initial guarantee of $1 million and it saw 23,045 players belly up to its virtual tables. The resulting prize-pool was a $2.3 million one, putting the initial guarantee to shame. Unlike in the High Main Event, where mostly pros played who didn’t care much for deals, the Low version of the Main Event saw the top 5 players strike a deal, which landed each and every one of them in 6 figures. The eventual winner was a player known as “MLiz” who ended up taking home $198k. The runner-up’s share of the prize-pool was $121.1k. The second biggest prize of the poker tournament went to Pawel.Mpl, who earned $142.4k. There weren’t any notables making deep runs in this event.

The medium buy-in version of the Main Event featured a buy-in of $1,050 and offered a guarantee of $2 million. 4,039 players decided to buy into the tournament, generating a prize-pool of $4,039,000. The winner was “nicofellow” who took home $472.2k, after a 4-way deal had been struck by the top finishers. The runner-up was Bostero10, who earned $434.7k. The highest finishing pro was Randy Lew, who ended up 4th, taking down a $368.4k prize.

In other news: Steve O’Dwyer, who is definitely a live tournament buff otherwise, doesn’t consider himself a WSOP kind of guy. In fact, he is pretty much disgusted with everything the WSOP stands for and he won’t take part in the Series this year.
Play at PokerStars to gain access to super-events like the SCOOP.
