Tuesday evening saw the 8 remaining players belly up to the final table of the
Party Poker Premier League V in Vienna. Scott Seiver was the one who managed to walk away with the title and the top prize of $500k, following his first ever participation in the Premier League. Seiver’s accomplishment was by no means one to scoff at: on his way to the top, he bested players like Tom Dwan, Tony G, Sam Trickett, Daniel Cates, Phil Laak and start of the final table chip leader Mathew Frankland. By winning the event, Seiver joined an illustrious club, that of the Premier League winners, which features names like Andy Black, JC Tran, Juha Helppi and David Benyamine.
None of the final table participants went home empty handed: Sam Trickett was the first one to bite the dust and he took home $55k too. Frankland finished 7th for $65k, followed to the rail by Tom Dwan in 6th, who took home $80k. Tony G was the first one to break through the 6-figure barrier. He pocketed exactly $100k for his 5th place. Patrik Antonius finished 4th for $125k, and Phil Laak picked up $175k for his 3rd place effort. The runner-up was Daniel Cates who took home $300k.
In addition to his $500k top prize, Seiver was rewarded with a $25k ticket to the WPT Championship. That ticket couldn’t possibly have gone to a better person, given the fact that Seiver had won that event last year, taking down a $1,618,344 prize.
In other news: as all the high stakes live tournament action seems to shift to Asia these days, Resorts World and the APT have made a major announcement regarding the launch of the Manila Millions. The event will feature a buy-in of HKD$1 million and it will take place in the Resorts World Manila’s Genting Club.
Several high-profile players like Phil Ivey and Tom Dwan have already said they would take part.
