The Poker Grapevine – Senti Pushing Online Poker Effort

Poker pro Jason Senti has turned 12/12/12 into a date that may yet go down in the annals of online poker history as a far more significant one than the simple number-pattern may make it. Senti proclaimed it the “Fight for Online Poker Rights Day” and he launched a thread at one of the popular online poker forums in order to drum up community support.
The initiative is aimed at prompting legislators to push an online poker bill through the lame duck session of Congress, which – once it ends in a couple of weeks’ time – will spell the end of all opportunities for the legalization and regulation of the game for 2012.
There is a poker bill in the works currently, a bi-partisan one at that, the one crafted by Sen Harry Reid and John Kyl, which is aimed at legalizing and regulating online poker but excluding online gambling.
Senti’s initiative consisted in the creation of a series of pre-made tweets that players can use to urge action on the part of Congress members and various politicians who may hold some sway over the legalization process.
Senti said that he felt his initiative was a necessary one on account of the fact that it’s always easy for politicians to simply ignore the issue of online poker, as there’s always something bigger on the table, Senti is hoping to make the online poker community “loud” enough to be noticed by the bigwigs of politics.

In addition to his list of tweets, Senti has also made it possible for forum readers to contact their representatives through email and phone, thus drawing more attention to the issue so important for them. Hereby we urge players to throw their support behind Senti’s move by contacting their representatives and bringing the issue to their attention.
