The poker grapevine – Terrence Chan done with the US

Terrence Chan is apparently done playing poker (or doing anything else for that matter) in the US. In a blog post of his, he relayed the details of a couple of incidents that made him come to this decision. Apparently, some time ago, the Canadian concocted some plans to go to Long Beach for a couple of months, to rent a place there and to train in various forms of martial arts while there. US customs authorities didn’t quite like those plans though. The first time he attempted to cross into the States he got interrogated and after a few hours of back and forth, he was told he needed to produce documents proving that he did indeed have solid ties to his home country. The second time, he showed up at the border with title deeds and apparently a plane ticket for departing, but it was still not enough to appease the officials, and after having been treated like a criminal, he was once again forced to turn back. Apparently sick of the treatment he’d received at the hands of US customs officials, the poker pro decided to sever al his ties with the US.
Those intent on taking part in the 2011 WSOP will probably be glad to hear Chan won’t even attempt to make the journey and play.

In other news: if you guy were wondering whether filming on Poker After Dark’s new season has started yet: it has. The location for the new series is the Aria, and based on a photo that Phil Hellmuth so generously tweeted, we can now tell you that one of the episodes will feature the lineup of Chris Ferguson, Mike Matusow, Erica Schoenberg, Michael Dappen and Jennifer Harman.
