The Regional Championships of Online Poker are new additions among
PokerStars’ promotions. What PokerStars have basically done is that they’ve divided the world into 13 separate areas: US, Canada, UK and Ireland, Baltic, Nordic, Russia, Germany, Benelux, Iberian, Central and Eastern European, Mediterranean, Latin American and Asia Pacific zones. Players belonging to a zone will only be able to play against other players belonging to that same region. Each if the 13 Series will be comprised of 11 events and there will be a Main Event as well where the best players of each of the above listed regions will emerge.
In other news: on a blog post on his site, Doyle Brunson gives readers a breakdown of the Poker Hall of Fame nominees and shares some thoughts on who he thinks should be inducted and when. According to Doyle, Daniel Negreanu certainly fulfills all criteria for Hall of Fame induction, but being too young, he will probably have to wait a few years before he’s seriously considered. The same goes for Phil Ivey and Jennifer Harman, as for Barry Greenstein: all Doyle said was that he wouldn’t mind seeing him in the Hall of Fame already.
Which of the nominees would he personally induct given an opportunity? Erik Seidel is apparently Doyle’s preferred poker personality, mostly on account of his exemplary conduct – which reminds old Doyle of Chip Reese.
