The Poker Grapevine – Tom Dwan Swings into Action

Unlike Gus Hansen and Viktor Blom, who have both logged tens of thousands of hands at Full Tilt Poker’s tables this year, Tom Dwan, another member of The Professionals, hasn’t really put in as much effort. Perhaps sensing some pressure on account of his lack of dedication, the New Jersey Wonderkid decided to get in some much-needed catching-up, so he went on a tear over the last few days. According to poker sites specialized in tracking traffic and player activity, Dwan showed up at work on Thursday logging into his Full Tilt Poker account, and registered a marathon run which consisted of 7k hands and lasted about 25 hours. At the end of it, he was $1.25 million richer.

Interestingly enough, Dwan’s run began at the $300/$600 NL Holdem tables, where he took on a couple of regulars, two players known as “Sanlker” and “bbvisbadforme,”. Dwan’s history at the NLH tables is a mixed bag. Back in 2010, he dropped massive amounts of money to Blom at NLH. This time, he was much more successful though: in around 70 minutes, he worked his way up to about $17,000 in profits. He then moved to the PLO and Triple Draw tables, where he’s apparently much more comfortable, and indeed, the pots started going his way almost straight away. 2-7 triple draw proved to be extremely generous for him: he tangled with players like Hac Dang, Ben Sulsky and Alex Luneau, and he ended up with a profit of $1.3 million.

Dwan then went on to play Ben Tollerene heads-up at the $300/$600 PLO tables in what would turn out to be an 18-hour long session. This stage of his run was a bit more give-and-take, and even though he had the lead for the most part, in the end it was Tollene who finished about $30k in the black.
