The Poker Grapevine – Tony G Drops Out of One Drop

About a week ago, the WSOP has made the announcement that 42 of the available 48 spots in the Big One for One Drop event had filled up. Since then, a handful of other pros have made their intentions clear about wanting to play in the event, making people wonder whether there’d be players willing to cough up the $1 million buy-in left on the outside looking in. Well, it now appears that at least one of these guys (if there are indeed any such players out there) has caught a lucky break. Party Poker pro and online poker news-portal owner Tony G has given up his spot and his name is now struck from the list. Guoga, who’s originally from Lithuania, has apparently found a more worthy calling. Being the manager of national basketball team of Lithuania, Tony G will have his hands full with various duties around the team, including a series of exhibition games in Houston and then a road-trip to Venezuela. As a matter of fact, in order to properly fulfill his basketball-related obligations, Guoga will take a complete break from poker.
Phil Hellmuth, Mike Sexton, Jean Robert Bellande or Ben Lamb will certainly be glad to take his place at the Big One for One Drop table.

In other news: Patrik Antonius, the online pro who used to be among the main flag carriers of Full Tilt Poker, has just signed with iGame, a new online poker site, which has already generated some buzz by becoming the first site out there to secure the services of an ex-Full Tilt pro.
Antonius already has his task cut out for him: he will be playing a pair of heads-up matches against an online qualifier, a challenge set which will be streamed live. The stakes are high in the challenge: if the online qualifier manages to beat Antonius both times, he/she will take down a €20k prize.
Antonius is one of the players who have already made a down payment for the Big One for One Drop.
