The Poker Grapevine – US Full Tilt Payments Have Begun

It is now official: the repayment process of Full Tilt Poker’s US players has begun. Funds have actually begun landing in player’s accounts, as a number of Automated Clearing House deposits have already been made.
Many players have indeed confirmed that they have a pending transfer on their online bank statements bearing the label “DoJ Poker Stars Pokerpay”.
Approximately $82 million shall be paid out during this round of repayments, to some 30k US-based players. These players shall recover their full Full Tilt Poker balances exactly 1,054 days after the funds got locked up in the wake of the Black Friday indictments. The money currently paid out came from PokerStars, as it is part of the settlement the online poker room struck with the DoJ. Many of those who received notice of the pending transaction were extremely pleased of course, and because the repayment process started on Friday, they began calling the day “Green Friday” on Twitter.
Daniel Cates was one of the players who got money back and he simply couldn’t believe the process had actually started.
Michael Bena and Brady Austin were among the tweeters too.

In other news: according to Mori Eskandani of Poker PROductions, the corporate entity behind the NBC National Heads-Up Championship, the event, which has grown into something of a staple of the live poker world over the years, will not take place in 2014.
2012 was also a NHPC-less year, which – due to the Black Friday shock – was quite understandable indeed. The event returned in 2013, hosted by Caesars Palace – its usual venue. Mike Matusow was the one who walked away with the title and the $750k first-place prize, after he defeated Phil Hellmuth heads-up. Hellmuth’s share of the prize-money was $300k.
Hellmuth was in fact the first-ever winner of the NHPC: in 2005, he bested Chris Ferguson for the title and the $500k top prize.
