The Poker Grapevine – WCOOP Main Event Winner’s Identity Uncovered

German players have been dominating the high stakes tournaments online as well as at the live poker tables lately. The £50k Super High Roller of the EPT’s London Stop wrapped up a day ago, featuring an all-German 1-2-3. Another major event which ended in a similar fashion not long ago was the WCOOP’s Main Event at PokerStars. Three German made it to the top of that event too, and they made a deal, dividing up about $4 million. One of the said players was Daniel Drescher, a more or less well-known poker player, who is no stranger to the online scene. The identity of the eventual winner of the poker tournament, known not too long ago only by the online moniker “PlayinWasted”, couldn’t be kept under wraps either. An Italian online poker portal has apparently found out that PlayinWasted’s real name is David Kaufman and that he resides in Cologne. He’s apparently a psychology student, so advanced poker strategy may indeed be right up his alley (although whether one can indeed effectively use psychology-based skills online is far from being a proven fact).

There’s not much else known about him, except for the fact that he is a recreational player and he does indeed consider himself that. He does not use a HUD and he’s definitely not a poker strategy buff either, since he’s apparently never read a poker book and hasn’t watched poker training videos either.
Despite his massive financial accomplishment, he won’t really be able to fully enjoy the fruits of his labor, since he has to give up around 71% of it to backers and friends who staked him. The remaining 29% though - which is still a pretty hefty chunk of change – is his to do with as he pleases.
He was the one responsible for sending Viktor Blom packing early in the tournament.
Play at PokerStars and satellite your way into events like the WCOOP Main Event where you can play for 6-figure prizes.
