The Poker Grapevine – Zoom Poker Launched

It’s official: high volume online poker grinders no longer have to wishfully dream about the day when they could play Rush Poker over at Full Tilt: on Friday, PokerStars have launched the real money beta version of their new Zoom Poker, thus virtually destroying the upcoming weekends of thousands of poker maniacs world over. Zoom Poker is played exactly the same way any online cash game would be played: players are seated at a table and dealt into hands. Zoom Poker’s peculiarity resides in the fact that once a player folds he’s moved from his current table to another one where he’s immediately dealt into a new hand. Players don’t even have to wait for their turn: they can fold as soon as they see the hand they picked up is not something they would want to play. Successful micro and low stakes grinders are almost guaranteed to increase their hourly earning rates through Zoom Poker.
While the beta version only allows 1.5k players to play, a selection of micro stakes Texas Holdem and Omaha games, several thousands of players will probably give the Zoom Poker tables a try over the weekend. The beta testing period is meant to identify any possible software problems. Once the beta hurdle is cleared, PokerStars will introduce bigger limits, new game variants and – according to some – Zoom Poker tournaments are also in the books.

In other news: Daniel Cates, one of the world’s top online poker players, will be holding a seminar in the Czech Republic, between April 1-3, focused on advanced strategy like 4 and 5-betting, board textures and range assignments. Those who intend to better their green-felt abilities will have to cough up €2,499 per person. The rate is considered to be a bargain one in light of the fact that Cates normally charges $2k an hour for poker coaching sessions.
Poker pro Johannes Strassman will also tutor players at the said seminar.
