The Venetian’s Deep Stack Extravaganza

First introduced in 2007, the Venetian’s Deep Stack Extravaganza has become one of the most popular live tournament series in Las Vegas. The Series features deep stacks, generous tournament structures and of course, a luxurious atmosphere in which players will truly grow to appreciate the peculiar flavor of deep-stacked live poker.

The fourth edition of the Deep Stack Extravaganza kicked off on Tuesday and it’s set to last all the way till November 22. Over its 27 days, the series will feature two events every day. There will be a large variety of buy-in levels and poker variants, depending on the needs and wants of the people who come to play in these events.
Given the player-focused nature of the events, the Deep Stack Extravanza tournaments never fail to attract an extremely motley texture of players. One will find Las Vegas based sharks sharing tables with well-known online players, up and coming amateurs, curious locals and even more curious tourists.
The fact that the events are mostly played with deep stacks doesn’t mean they cost a fortune to enter. After all, the goal of the series is to attract as many players as possible from all walks of life and not just the elite. Most of the tournaments cost $340 to enter, while the cheaper ones cost $150. There are $550 tourneys as well and some NL events which cost $2,500, but that’s pretty much the upper threshold right there.

Those who bust out of the Deep Stack Extravaganza events will get the chance to relieve some tension by playing in one of the two daily tournaments that the Venetian features specifically for this purpose.
According to Kathy Raymond, director of poker operations at the Venetian, the Deep Stack Extravaganza tournaments were created at players’ request. Unlike most of the main stream live events, these poker tournaments do not aim to get people playing and then to send them packing as fast as possible.
