This Full Tilt Poker is not the Full Tilt Poker of Yesteryear

Full Tilt Poker may have been “re-launched” after picking up its new license from the Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission last October, and the site may indeed look just like it did before: boasting the best
online poker software and hosting some of the biggest cash games, but behind the scenes, everything has changed: this Full Tilt is not the Full Tilt that saw its management squander player monies on premiums to their pros and to members of the management, unable to pay up come crunch-time. Make no mistake, behind the familiar interface, this is a brand new operation, one that has been extremely keen on severing every connection with its former self, one that made a point out of saving face for Tom Dwan, Gus Hansen and Viktor Blom and one that’s now brought a generous selection of lower-profile pros into its fold, signaling a major change in the way it’s currently targeting a radically changing online poker market.
The Full Tilt Poker brand has always been a strong one, which explains why the logo and the software - the two most directly descriptive things about the operation – have remained the same. The people currently representing that brand are a radically different bunch though. Martins Adeniya, Sinem Melin, Dermot Blain and Ben Jenkins have taken over the Playground Poker Club in Montreal, where the Full Tilt Poker Montreal Festival has obliterated its C$1 million guarantee on its second day 1 flight already. These players are mingling with the masses, not just on account of their contractual obligations to Full Tilt: they’re doing it because that’s the way they are: they love fraternizing with other players, they love having a good time and they’re not uptight about their position either. Full Tilt Poker has become the peoples’ poker room, its elitist former crème banished, nothing left of them but a sour aftertaste…
