Tom Dwan burns Antonius at the durrrr challenge tables

The last challenge session the two players had, tuned extremely sour for Dwan who had taken his first substantial lead in the series, only to lose it all and finish slightly behind Antonius in the end. This time, the 24 minute session which saw them play a meager 154 hands, saw Dwan claw his way back into the lead as he managed to relieve the Finn of $55k. Dwan now leads the challenge again, being about $30k up over the 7,247 hands they have logged so far. Slowly approaching the 1/5th mark of the series, the match-up seems as balanced as ever. Dwan’s lead, though it may seem significant to a low stakes player, can evaporate over a single hand, which means that the two players are – for all practical reasons - still tied.

This last session, even though it was a brief one, yielded a six-figure pot which Dwan promptly pocketed. Antonius was in the BB and Dwan in the SB as the hand kicked off. Dwan put in a $1,200 preflop raise, which Antonius promptly called. The flop fell Js, 9h, 6s and Antonius opened the flow with a $2,400 bet. Dwan raised that to $8,600 and Antonius re-raised him to $28,200. In response, Dwan shoved all his $60,799 chips in and got the call from Antonius. Antonius then tabled Qh,10s,8d,7d for the straight draw, and durrrr showed Kd,Jd,Js,8c for the top set. The turn brought a 3d, and the river bricked out for Antonius too, landing a 2c. Dwan was content to drag the $123,997 pot.

Both players have taken time off from their usual $500/$1,000 mixed HA tables to get this little challenge session together, and that was exactly where durrrr returned after Antonius called it the day. Antonius said he was going to bed and Dwan told him he was going to hit the B-ball court to shoot some hoops. A few hours later though, witnesses reported him back in Hansen’s Gym, where the only sport that gets any sort of recognition is mixed HA poker.
