Tony G becomes a Party Poker pro

Tony G (Antanas Guoga)’s name is a household name in the online poker industry. The Lithuanian-born Australian player has had quite a bit of success in live poker as well (he’s amassed more than $4 million in live tournament winnings) but the accomplishment he’s best known for is the success of his poker news based online site.
I never found it peculiar that he didn’t have an endorsement deal to his name. I figured he’d pledged allegiance to his own online operations and was therefore not interested to carry anyone else’s flag. That’s exactly why I was surprised to learn that Tony G has just signed a deal with PartyPoker, committing himself to become their in-house pro, and to represent the brand wherever needed.
Then I understood what had happened. Tony G had sold his TonyGpoker.com to PartyPoker, thus opening up its solid player base to Party.

Tony G himself declared that he was extremely happy with the deal, and that he was looking forward to represent Party Poker on the live circuit. He would first wear his new colors in the Aussie Millions, then in the Premier League in February.
Because his endorsement deal includes live event buy-ins all over the world, we’re likely to see much more of Tony G in the months to come, and given the kind of character that he is, that can only be good for the railbirds as well as for the game in general. Tony G will also play online at PartyPoker, under the name “TonyG”, so if you think you have what it takes to face off against one of the best players the game has ever seen, you know where to find him.
He joins an already illustrious team at Party, made up of Mike Sexton, Kara Scott and Remy Biechel among others.

The player base from TonyGPoker will be taken over by Noble Poker (a member of Party’s network), and Tony G will continue to take part in the Sunday Bike Ride. According to Tony G, the acquisition of the site by Party Poker will only act to broaden the game experience for its existing players, giving them access to a larger pool of opponents, more numerous promotions and first-class poker software.
