UFC’s Dana White One of New Jersey’s Online Gaming Testers

On Monday, legal and real money online poker and gambling have officially been launched in the Garden State, making it the first US jurisdiction with a major live gambling establishment to legalize and regulate both
online poker and online casino gaming. Given that the UFC’s Dana White has always been known as a major gambler, and a close acquaintance of Lady Luck, tossing him into Atlantic City on Monday was the beginning of a match made in heaven.
Indeed, the launch of legalized online gaming was the perfect opportunity for White to take a trip to Atlantic City, accompanied by Frankie Edgar, one of the former champions of the UFC’s lightweight division, and Jenny Farley of Jersey Shore fame. The three made their way into the Trump Taj Mahal, where they were able to take part in a trial run of the online gaming software, which was an invitation-only affair.
White, who has been known to gamble for huge sums every now and then (he claimed to have won more the $6 million) played at UltimateCasino, quite a natural choice considering the site’s links to UFC.
Apparently, the site knew who it was dealing with too: while Farley and Edgar struggled, White bet away and he ended up with a profit of $33.5k.
White’s gambling run was probably directed at drumming up some press and some free advertising for UltimateCasino and if that was the goal, it has indeed succeeded. White kept people posted in regards to his antics during the gambling run, through Twitter.
Starting Monday, gamblers and poker players living within New Jersey’s borders no longer have to possess a special invitation to play.
Everyone – with the possible exception of those living close to the border in certain areas – is free to make a deposit and to play. Some online poker operators have already announced intricate and generous promotions.
