Even though Adam Levy is well known as an “online dominator”, his live poker achievements are nothing to think little of either. He had a whole bunch of live cash finishes this year, including no fewer than 5 in different WSOP events.
He cashed in the Main Event too, where he lasted deep and eventually clinched 48th place for a prize of $135,100.
UltimateBet decided to take Levy on-board as an addition to their already sturdy team of poker professionals which includes other 2008 deep cash finisher, and media darling Tiffany Michelle, James Campbell, Tracy Scala and Cliff Josephy. As you probably know, Ultimate Bet also counts on the skills of WSOP bracelet record holder Phil Hellmuth and Howard Lederer’s sister, Annie Duke. Adam Levy is said to be a player of an outstanding integrity, as for his skill level, his achievements are testimony.
He was born in Orlando, Florida, and began his career in gaming playing Magic The Gathering, a card game which requires foresight, opponent-reading skills and loads of strategy. Apparently, this game – quite like Starcraft – is an excellent springboard for those who end up making a career in professional poker. Whether it’s a mind-set thing or more of a strategy thing, players of these games seem be able to master poker well after making the transition. Proof to this are Bertrand Grospellier (who played Starcraft professionally for years before switching to poker) and Bodog’s David Williams – himself a Magic the Gathering player.
Adam Levy began playing poker online at Party, where he stuck gold almost instantly. He won the 2005 PartyPoker Super Tuesday and took down a prize of $31,000, which was more than enough to launch him straight up to the big leagues. He has been very consistent when playing online ever since. He is said to have made more than $1.8 million.
He first burst onto the live poker scene in 2007, when he almost made the final table of the WPT’s North American Poker Championship. He eventually finished 9th for a payday of $84,437.
With his addition, UltimateBet doesn’t just put another “name” pro on its roster, it adds one who brings online poker experience and is highly respected in the world of online poker.
