Ultimate Gaming Pulls Out of New Jersey

The various pitfalls associated with the Garden State’s inherently small player liquidity and with some of the faults of the whole system at work there online gaming-wise, have apparently began to make their effect: Ultimate Gaming, one of the first companies to begin offering
legal online poker and online gambling products in the US, has announced its withdrawal from New Jersey the other day.
The reasons for Ultimate Gaming’s move may have been multi-faceted, but the primary trigger was the demise of its mandatory land-based partner, the Trump Taj Mahal Associates LLC. The partnership between the two companies was curtailed 10 days after the land-based component had filed for bankruptcy.
According to Ultimate Gaming, Trump Taj Mahal were responsible for multiple breaches of the association agreement, as a result of which, Ultimate Gaming decided to discontinue the partnership and to cease offering online gambling and poker in New Jersey within a few days.
According to the company statement, Ultimate Gaming’s operation would continue as usual in Nevada.

The Chairman of Ultimate Gaming, Tom Breitling, said that his side was grateful to the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement for the opportunity granted to the operation, and he also mentioned that UG were working closely with the DGE to make sure that the transition for all their existing customers is a smooth one. Exactly where their players will be transferred is not currently known.
The Taj Mahal’s announcement regarding its closure came on September 9, when the operator became the 5th this year to close in Atlantic City, underscoring the problems the entire live and online casino industry of the region is struggling with. Apparently, for the Taj Mahal, online gaming did not offer a way out of trouble.
Bwin Poker is the poker operation of the world’s largest online sports betting company and as such, it offers outstandingly fishy competition.
