Unibet Poker to Leave MPN

On Tuesday, it became clear that the newest poker room to leave the Microgaming (MPN) poker network would be Unibet Poker. Officials of the operation announced that they may begin pursuing their own proprietary platform as early as next month. The new Unibet platform will apparently be focused on the social aspect of the game with a clear accent on the casual player. The company Unibet have apparently turned to in order to have their dream platform developed is Relax Gaming.
According to Unibet’s Head of Gaming Daniel Eskola, the
online poker environment in particular and the online gaming one in general have changed a lot in recent years. It has become increasingly obvious for his company that in this day and age, Unibet could no longer stay competitive while fulfilling its online poker goals by remaining a member of a poker network. Striking out on their own will give the site the opportunity to fulfill the goals they deem important and to cover aspects of the gaming they believe will be most rewarding for their players.
The main goal of the move – according to Eskola – is to get the fun aspect of the game back, by focusing on casual players.
Not much is known about the software yet, but it will obviously feature a new lobby, and there will apparently be 3D backgrounds and a number of customizable avatars available too. The actual game-play will feature “side-perks” such as achievements and missions, to keep the casual player engaged.
The software will feature excellent compatibility: it’ll be available for PC and Mac in a downloadable format, as well as in mobile versions for iOS and Android-based tablets.
The timing of the move was justified by Eskola through a move away from previous goals such as big liquidity and security. Developing a focus on those who do not grind but rather casually jump in every now and then is quite impossible within a network like MPN.
