Viktor Blom Once Again Biggest Winner of the Year

To say that Viktor Blom,
Full Tilt Poker’s Swedish professional, kicked off 2013 on the right foot would probably be an understatement. He earned more in January alone than most online poker players do throughout their entire career, and by July, he was around $4.8 million above the red line. As any high stakes poker player will tell you though, the variance at that level in quite insane, and once he hit a downward slope, he couldn’t help losing all his profits back. What works one way though, usually works the other way as well, especially if we’re talking about an individual as skilled and talented as Blom: having stitched together another impressive run, the Swede is now back on top of the biggest
online poker cash game winner of the year list, with $3.8 million in profits. All he really needed to pull off the rebound were a few weeks.
The latest leg of his journey back to the top saw him finish last week with a profit of $1.96 million, for which he played 18,053 hands spread over 165 different sessions.
While he was by far the biggest winner indeed, he wasn’t the only one. Alex Millar had a great week too: he finished $687.3k above the red line, having played only 667 hands over 9 sessions. Denoking was among the winners as well: his haul tipped the scales at $661.7k. The other big winners were Isaac Haxton ($377.2k) and Doug Polk ($199.5k).
Polk’s week was a truly excellent one indeed: besides making the winners’ list, he managed to finish off Ben Sulsky in their $100k Challenge.
Wherever there are big winners there have to be big losers too and last week they didn’t come bigger than Sanlker, who dropped $781.3k. Other losers were Gus Hansen and SallyWoo.
