WCOOP Main Event – Tyson Marks wins

After 3 weeks of online poker battles and after countless WCOOP bracelets finding their owners (not to mention the millions of dollars awarded in prize-pools) the WCOOP has finally wrapped up. The Main Event is in the books and its winner, Tyson Marks, took home more than $2.27 million for his efforts. Marks pretty much ran roughshod over the final table, as the large stack that he started with certainly allowed him to do whatever he wanted. At the beginning of the final table action, Marks did not simply hold a chip lead, he held more than three times as many chips as the second place man.

The first two victims of the final table (9th and 8th places respectively) fell at the hands of the chip leader. All the to and fro shuffling at the final table saw Marks emerge with a 5-1 chip lead for the heads-up stage of the poker tournament. Obviously, with that big an advantage, Marks had no problems swinging the balance his way decisively. The final hand of the tournament saw joeysweetp kick off the action with a preflop raise. The flop fell Jh,8c,2h and Marks fired out a half-pot size bet. His opponent made the call to see the Kh fall on the turn. Marks fired out a similarly sized bet and in response, joeysweetp shoved all-in. Marks made the call immediately and tabled Ah, 4h for the nut flush. The 10d on the river was a mere formality and Marks etched his name into the online poker history books as the winner of the WCOOP Main Event.
Joeysweetp picked up $1.4 million for his second place. Russian_nuts finished 3rd for a little over $1 million.
Notable finishes were those of Mike Adamo (who ended up in 10th) and Bryn Kenney (17th).
