The 5th and final day of the WPT’s Amneville stop saw 6 players return to the final table. Scott Baumstein was the one who held the largest stack at the beginning of the action. He led the field by a massive margin but he failed to take advantage of his large stack and he withered away in 4th place. Adrien Allain was the one left standing at the end of the day, €310,633 richer.
The first victim of the final table took more than two and a half hours to head to the rail.
Arnaud Trouer put his tournament life onto the line with an A,Qo. Allain was the one who made the call with Ah,Jh. The flop fell K,J,J and suddenly, Trouer’s hand didn’t look good. A K fell on the turn, followed by the 9d on the river and Trouer was bounced in 6th place.
Baumstein was responsible for the elimination of the next player: Michel Konieczny. Konieczny had an A,10o against Baumstein’s pocket Qs. The board ran out a bunch of bricks and the field was down to 4.
That hand gave Baumstein a welcome boost, the effects of which wore out extremely fast though. He bowed out in 4th place, after his pocket 7s fell to Jordan Quinn’s Kc,Jc. Thibaoud Guenegou faded away in 3rd place, setting up the heads-up stage of the event. Allain was the one responsible for his elimination too. Guenegou pushed his chips into the middle before the flop with A,7o and Allain made the call with A,Q. A Q which fell on the flop sealed the deal.
While in the beginning of the heads-up action, the two players were relatively even in chips, it didn’t take Allain long to open up a massive lead. Soon, the final hand of the event came about and it was one straight out of an
on line poker game: Quinn’s K,9o faced up to Allain’s pocket 10s. The river gave Quinn a pair of 9s but it was too little too late.
