WPT Amneville – Day 3 Report

The 3rd day of the WPT’s Amneville stop saw 76 players return to the tables, each of them aiming to survive the money bubble. Scott Baumstein was the one who had the largest stack at the beginning of the day and he took full advantage of his position. He kept adding chips all through the day and by the end of it, he was still the leader, having built up a monster stack of 1.82 million chips. There was no one in the field to even come close to Baumstein’s performance: Anders Bisgaard was the second place man and he had 1.1 million chips only.
The money bubble was set for 36th place and it was quite certain that it would be reached during day 3. 40 players would have to leave the tables with nothing but the proverbial wooden spoon to show for their efforts, but such is tournament play. The bubble was reached during the 17th level: Jean Bernard Bros was the unlucky bubble-boy. He shoved all-in before the flop landed on his online poker-like final hand. Yves Bodeux and Nesrine Kourdourli both made the call and proceeded to play down to the river. Bodeux had a pair of 10s and Kourdourli mucked her hand. Bros mucked his too and got up from the table to head to the rail. Following his elimination, the rest of the field let up a huge sigh of relief safe in the knowledge that no one else would be forced to leave the tournament without a detour through the payout booth.
The action sped up quite a bit after the bubble burst and the trickle of eliminations soon became a flow: Paul Ribaud was bounced in 36th place. He was followed by Erik Von Buxhoeveden and Giuseppe Zarbo. Mark Inizan, Mark Naalden and Nicholas Babel were eliminated too.
Arnaud Mattern and Joseph Cheong managed to survive though, together with Adrien Allain and Jean Philipe Rohr.
