WPT Amneville – Day 4 Report

19 players returned to action on the 4th day of the WPT’s Amneville Main Event. The objective of the day was for the field to play down to the 6-handed final table, and that objective was indeed handily accomplished.
Ovidiu Balaj was the first one to hit the rail when the action kicked off. He was soon followed to the sidelines by Nicolas Dervaux. Arnaud Mattern and Jean Philipe Rohr may have survived the previous day, but they both ran out of steam on day 4, which didn’t exactly come as a surprise given that Rohr had been the official short-stack when day 4 began. He made it all the way to 15th place. Arnaud was the one who followed him to the payout queue in 14th. As a matter of fact, they both faded away on the very same hand.

Adrien Allain was the one who kicked off the action in that hand. Mattern three-bet in response and Rohr shoved all-in. Both Allain and Mattern made the call.
The flop fell 10c, 3h, 2h, as Mattern and Allain continued the duel, while Rohr could only watch from the sidelines. Allain pushed all-in and Mattern made the call holding pocket 10s for the top set. Allain had pocket rockets for the overpair and Rohr’s pocket Js were pretty much irrelevant at that point. The A fell on the turn followed by a 6c on the river and Allain scooped up the pot leaving both Mattern and Rohr chipless.
Joseph Cheong was the one to head to the rail after Mattern and Rohr. Cheong a 2011 WSOP November Niner, was sent to the rail by Tony Blanchandin, in 13th place.

The official 6-handed final table was set when Anders Bisgaard bit the dust in 7th place. Adrien Allain was the one responsible for his elimination too. Allain had pocket rockets again, and Bisgaard only had a pair of Js. Scott Baumstein clung to the chip lead.
