The second Day 1 flight of the WPT’s Baden Main Event registered 150 buy-ins, of which 24 were re-buys. Everything taken into account, the event has generated a $1,031,041 prize-pool, which guarantees the eventual winner a $271.2k share.
A total of 8 levels of action went into the day, at the end of which 75 players were left standing, with Senadin Cosic leading the pack. Cosic finished the day with 135.8k chips in his stack, only 100 chips ahead of second place man Daniele Scatragil, who finished with 135.7k. Given how Kimmo Kurko had 149k chips bagged on Day 1A, his top spot remained unchallenged.
The first elimination of Day 1B was that of Martin Sturc, who woke up with pocket rockets and pushed all-in, finding a caller in Lauri Pesonen, who had pocket Ks. Much to the dismay of the player with the better starting hand, Pesonen found another K on the board to force the first elimination of the day.
Michael Mizrachi played on Day 1B as well, but he failed to catch a break in the
poker tournament. During level 3, he pushed all-in and got called by Daniele Scatragil, who had caught a two pair on the flop. Mizrachi failed to improve and he was eliminated. He was followed to the rail by a crowd of name players, among them Ben Juhasz, Salman Behbehani, Pascal Vos and Manig Loeser.
Loeser, who was one of the players who re-bought after a failed Day 1A attempt, got his last chips into the middle with pocket Ks. He was called by Elena Banas, who had pocket rockets and his tournament came to an end again, this time for good.
PartyPoker pro Bodo Sbrzesny on the other hand had a great day: he finished with a stack of 124.8k chips.
