WPT Barcelona – Chanracy Khun Wins

The WPT’s Season XI Barcelona Main Event has gone into the books on Wednesday, when the last 6 survivors of an initial starting field of 249 returned to the tables to play down to a winner. When everything had been said and done, the player standing proud next to the giant-sized trophy was Chanracy Khun. Besides the bragging rights and the title, Khun picked up a $258.4k prize as well.
As soon as the final table action kicked off, players tore into each-other, but there were no immediately visible effects of the early rush on actual eliminations. It took quite a while for the first victim of the final table to hit the rail, and when it happened, the home crowd was left with a sour taste: Sergio Fernando was the first player to head to the rail. He got his last chips into the middle during level 25 on an A,9o, against Khun’s pocket 6s. The classic coin-flip went Khun’s way this time, and the local favorite was out of contention.

Bruno Garcia Cotelo was the one who followed Fernandez to the rail. His elimination was Khun’s work as well. What’s more, Khun didn’t stop there: he started dominating the final stretch of the poker tournament by sending Tahiri Hassani Najib to the rail in 4th place next.
During the next level, Antonio Alfaia decided to commit his remaining chips too. His pocket 9s went up against Khun’s A,5o and an A on the river set up the heads-up stage of the action. Alfaia was the first player to take down a 6-figure prize.
The final hand of the event saw Khun’s pocket 8s best Benjamin Pollak’s Kd,7d for the win. In the end, Khun’s victory was more than deserved indeed: he was the one responsible for every single elimination scored at the 6-handed final table.
