WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star – Kai Chang Wins

6 players returned to the green felt on the last day of the WPT’s Bay 101 Shooting Star, looking to eliminate the last shooting star left in contention, Erik Seidel, and of course to win it all. The start of the day chip leader was Paul Volpe, who had led the leader board at the end of the previous day as well.
The start of the day saw a lot of cautious action and it wasn’t until level 8 that the first victim of the final table was sent to the rail. Short-stacked Joe Kuether pushed his last chips into the middle with pocket Js. Joe Nguyen was all over him though with pocket rockets, and since the board failed to come to his rescue, Kuether was bounced in 6th place, picking up a reward of $162.2k.
During the same level of action, Chris Johnson pushed his chips into the middle too. Erik Seidel tagged along together with Chang, and the three of them traded a few bets before Johnson shoved all-in on the flop. Chang made the call as Seidel got out of the way and he showed pocket 10s for the flopped set. It turned out that Johnson didn’t really have anything, so he too bit the dust, taking home $208.9k for his 5th place.

Erik Seidel fell next, finally relinquishing his bounty. He was rewarded with a $295.5k prize. The beneficiary of his bounty was Paul Volpe.
Unfortunately for him, Volpe was the next player who found the exit in 3rd place, sent home by Chang.
The heads-up stage of the poker tournament saw Chang start out with a 2-1 chip advantage, of which he handily took advantage indeed. The final hand of the event saw Nguyen shove all-in, running right into Chang’s turned straight.
