Six players returned to the tables of the Borgata Poker Open on the last day of the
poker tournament, looking the play down to a winner. At the end of the day, there was only one left standing indeed, all the chips piled up in front of him. The player who took home the $825k top prize was Anthony Zinno, from Rhode Island, who disposed of none other than
PokerStars’ own Vanessa Selbst heads-up. Selbst’s share of the reward was $492.5k, not a bad haul after all.
With the top prize, Zinno secured additional perks and benefits too: he picked up a seat in the WPT’s World Championship event, worth $25k and he will have his name on the WPT Champions Cup, to be forever etched into poker history.
Eric Fields was the official short-stack of the final table and as such, he was under a great deal of pressure to chip up as soon as the action got going. He picked up a pair of Js and he shoved all-in immediately, as Cong Pham got out of the way and Jeremy Kottler made the call. It turned out Kottler had an A,K for the coin-flip. Fields managed to dodge the flop and the turn, but the river was an Ace and his tournament life was over. His reward for his 6th place finish was $168.6k.
The next player to head to the rail was David Randall. He was bounced by Kottler too.
Despite having scored the first two eliminations, Kottler was the next one to hit the sidelines. He was sent packing by Vanessa Selbst, picking up $251.9k for his 4th place.
Cong Pham’s elimination in 3rd place set up the heads-up stage of the action. Zinno was the one who sent him packing. The last hand of the tournament saw Zinno’s A,6o best Selbst’s K,10o.
