6 players returned to the tables of the Borgata for the final rush of the WPT’s Borgata Poker Open. With a $922k top prize on the line, none of them was willing to bust out early. In the end, it only took the winner, Bobby Oboodi, 138 hands to grab the title, the money and the honors.
When the action kicked off, Oboodi had the chip lead, by a relatively small margin only though as Fred Goldberg was breathing down his neck. Jin Hwang was the official short-stack at the final table.
First blood was drawn on the 11th hand of the day. Oboodi got it all-in with Ah, Kh against Ricky Hale’s A,10o. The flop fell 10,9,2 giving Hale a pair of 10s but the K on the turn handed the lead right back to Oboodi. The Jd on the river sealed the deal for good. Hale picked up $186k for his 6th place.
Elias was the next one to find the rail: he moved all-in with pocket Js and got called by Oboodi, who had pocket Ks. The board bricked out and Elias was eliminated in 5th.
Goldberg had taken a bad hit from Oboodi before Elias’ elimination, so he was riding a short-stack when his time to shove all-in came. He had 10,9 on a flop of 9,7,6 and he got called by Oboodi who had a dominating A,9. The turn and the river blanked out and Goldberg was done too.
Buzgon was eliminated in 3rd place to set up the heads-up stage between Oboodi and Hwang, who had yet again managed to nurse his short-stack along all the way to the final showdown.
Going into the heads-up stage, Oboodi held a rather decent lead over Hwang. He managed to increase that lead before the final hand came on the 138th hand of the day.
The last hand saw the chips go into the middle on a tricky board of 7s,6s,6c,Js. Hwang shoved all-in, holding K,Jo for the two pair. Little did he know though that Oboodi had Qs, 2s for the flush, and the tournament was over.
