WPT Borgata Poker Open – Day 2 Report

The second day of the WPT’s Borgata Poker Open is in the books and the field has been thinned down to 174. Florida’s Raj Vohra finished Day 2 with the biggest stack, having had 580.7k chips bagged at the final whistle. Katayon Khaterzai finished second with a stack of 548k. Others who finished near the top of the pops were Edwin Torres and Ebony Kenney.
Jerry Wong and Jeremy Kottler both made the top 10, together with Day 1A chip leader Cong Pham.
Most of Vohra’s chips have been acquired during the very last level of action, when he got involved in a massive pot against Kunal Patel. Vohra had an Ac, 9c against Patel’s pocket Qs. The chips went into the middle on a flop of 8c,6c,2s and Vohra managed to make the nut flush, taking down the 400k chip pot.

The start of the day chip leader was Paul Volpe, who got off to a pretty bad start: he got sucked into a perfect hand early on, holding an A,10 on a flop of A,A,3 and he dropped a pretty large pot there. To top it all off, one of the other players began to verbally assault him and got himself booted from the poker tournament.
Eventually, Volpe did finish on a healthy stack though: his 337.7k chips enough for 27th place.

Ryan Riess was also among the survivors, together with Cliff Josephy and Vanessa Selbst. The winner of the Super High Roller, Scott Seiver, was also among those who managed to have their Day 3 tickets punched. Vinny Pahuja and Lee Childs were less fortunate though. They bit the dust, together with Matt Affleck, Kevin Saul and Keven Stammen. Kara Scott hit the rail as well, courtesy of Brent Roberts.
