WPT Borgata Poker Open – Day 3 Report

The 3rd day of the WPT’s Borgata Poker Open saw 174 players belly up to the tables. The money bubble was set to burst during the day, so players had their immediate priorities clear. Indeed, the bubble was shoved out of the way, and by the end of the day, only 36 players were left standing.
Interestingly, the player who managed to capture the chip lead at the end of day was Day 1A chip leader, Cong Pham. Pham finished with more than 2.54 million chips.
Pham was followed by Jake Schwartz in second place, with 2.14 million chips. Other players who did well on Day 3 were David Johnston and David Randall. Vanessa Selbst was the highest finishing “name” pro. Her stack of 1.73 million chips was enough to land her in 5th place. Jeremy Kottler made the top 10 as well.
Cliff Josephy and Matt Glantz managed to have their day 4 tickets punched as well.

Set for 110th place, the money bubble burst when Josh Levkov was sent to the rail by Daniel Howe. Howe turned a straight to defeat Levkov’s top set. The pace of the action sped up past the money-bubble claiming the poker tournament lives of scores of players, among them quite a few professionals.
Scott Seiver bit the dust in 95th place. Victor Ramdin and Eric Baldwin were eliminated as well. Dan Buzgon made it all the way to 60th place. Jonathan Little, Justin Zaki and Bobby Oboodi were bounced as well.
Paul Volpe was one of the players who massively contributed to the eventual chip leader’s stack. The hand in question saw Cliff Josephy and Volpe square off against Pham, and it was indeed the one that gave Pham the chip lead.
Vanessa Selbst’s run was a late one as well: she picked off a bluff from Fernando Halac to shoot up the ladder.
