WPT Borgata Poker Open – Day 4 Report

The Borgata Poker Open’s 4th day saw 27 survivors belly up to the tables of the Borgata, with Will Failla leading the way. At the end of the hostilities, the final table of 6 would be set, and the protagonists would be entirely different people.
As the action kicked off, Orson Young bit the dust, going out in 27th place. He was followed to the rail by Alexander Queen and Vanessa Selbst. Selbst’s elimination happened on a rather standard hand. The board read 10h,4d,3s,sJ and she moved all-in with a Qs, 8s which gave her straight and flush draws. The one to make the call was Fred Goldberg, who had pocket 3s for the bottom set. The 6c on the river sealed the deal, sending all of Selbst’s chips Goldberg’s way, and Selbst herself to the rail.

Several other notables hit the rail after Selbst, among them Anthony Rivera and John Cernuto. Matt Glantz was eliminated too, in 12th place. Will Failla had begun the day with the largest stack, but by that stage, his chips had pretty much whittled away. He dropped a huge pot to Jin Hwang (who by the way had started the day with the smallest stack), and he was left with a single BB. Bobby Oboodi then stepped in and completed the formalities, sending Failla packing.
Dan Coleman, Kevin Calenzo and Joe Dittmar were eliminated next. The final elimination of the day was that of Doug Kim who busted in 7th. Bobby Oboodi was responsible for his demise too. Oboodi’s A,Q got the better of Kim’s Q,10 on a board of A,8,3,K,7.

That pot pushed Oboodi’s stack to 11,140,000 chips, enough to clinch the chip leader’s spot for the day. Fred Goldberg managed to shoot past the 11 million mark too, breathing down Oboodi’s neck with 11,080,000 chips. Jin Hwang, Dan Buzgon, Darren Elias and Ricky Hale were the other players to make the final table. Hwang is still the short-stack.
