WPT Borgata Poker Open – Day 4 Report

The 4th day of the WPT’s Borgata Poker Open was that of the final table: when the green felt hostilities were stopped at the end of the day, only 6 players were left standing, among them Day 1A chip leader Cong Pham and high-profile poker professional Vanessa Selbst. Pham has in fact finished with the largest stack, having had 10.1 million chips bagged. Selbst finished second, with 7.9 million chips. None of the other players managed to get even close to the chip leader. Anthony Zinno ended up in 3rd, with 6.9 million chips.
The other final table participants are Jeremy Kottler, David Randall and Eric Fields. Fields will be the official short stack, come the final day, with 3.1 million chips.

36 players bellied up to the tables at the beginning of the day, looking to make the home dash. Selbst had a large stack at the beginning of the day and she made full use of it. She even managed to snatch the lead away from start of the day chip leader Cong Pham only three hands into the action. The pot that propelled Selbst to the top was one she took off Jake Schwartz. The two of them bet every street right up to the river, creating a massive pot, at the end of which Selbst showed down an A,K for the King trips and A kicker, while Schwartz just mucked his hand. He apparently had Q,Q as he later revealed in a twitter post.

Tyler Gaston then gave Selbst’s stack yet another boost later in the day, when he doubled her up. Raj Vohra, one of the early chip leaders of the poker tournament, was bounced on Day 4. He picked up $17k for his 20th place. Jerry Payne and Matt Glantz joined him on the rail. Cliff Josephy and Dan Heimiller were also eliminated.
