WPT Caribbean – Day 3 Report

The third day of the WPT’s $3.2k Caribbean Main Event saw 32 players return to the tables on the beautiful Caribbean island of St Maarten, with the goal of playing down to the final table. 5 more levels of play went into the day, and even though by the end of the day the final table hadn’t been reached, the field came pretty close: only 11 remained standing.
The one who finished the third day of the poker tournament with the largest stack was Severin Schleser, who had 1.15 million chips bagged. Tony Dunst, the highest-profile poker pro still in the running, finished with a large stack as well: he had 814k chips bagged, enough for second place. Bobby Oboodi and Marvin Rettenmaier made the cut too. They finished with 486k and 394k respectively.

The first victim of the day bit the dust shortly after the action kicked off: Oboodi was the first one who swung into action, eliminating Pim Van Wieringen and Grega Vozel.
Justin Zaki picked up a pair of 10s, shoved all-in and he got called by Ferenc Riech, who had pocket Ks. The board fell a bunch of blanks, failing to hit either hand involved and thus Riech picked up the pot, leaving Zaki on the sidelines, empty-handed no less.
Micah Rashkin was sent packing before the money bubble burst too. Set for 24th place, the bubble was put in the rearview mirror upon the elimination of David Kaufmann. Sitting under the gun, Kaufmann pushed all-in holding a K,5o. Unfortunately for him though, Marvin Rettenmaier made the call with a dominating A,Qo, to which he landed another A on the flop, effectively dispelling all of his opponent’s hopes.
The turn and the river changed nothing and Kaufmann was out of the way, together with the money-bubble.
Christian Stallinger was among those who busted after the bubble, together with Ferenc Riech.
