WPT Copenhagen – Day 1A-1B Report

Day 1A chip leader Andre Petrovic of Sweden took advantage of his large stack to power his way into the overall lead for day 2 of the WPT’s Copenhagen Main Event. The poker tournament drew a starting field of 229 players over two day 1 flights, which left 141 players in contention for day 2.
Day 1A kicked off with 98 players bellying up to the tables. Petrovic got off to a great start. He eliminated Sean Jazayeri, taking down a massive pot in the process which handed him the chip lead. He never looked back. As a matter of fact, he continued to bust “name” opposition. At one point, during the 7th level of action, he took on Bryn Kenney. He had A,Qo against Kenney’s Ac,8c. The board gave Petrovic a two pair, and Kenney was eliminated too. That pot gave Petrovic another massive boost. He eventually finished with more than 220k chips to his name.

Keven Stammen may have arrived late, but he didn’t waste any time getting his hands dirty. He almost immediately busted Kara Scott. He went on to finish on a healthy stack of 83,000 chips.
While the above said players had field-days, others were struggling. Anton Wigg was eliminated, together with Ville Wahlbeck and Theo Jorgensen.

On Day 1B, a sturdier 131-player field bellied up to the tables. Tony G and Daniel Cates played on Day 1B too. Guoga bought in late, being the last player to register for the event. He was sent to the rail though, together with Cates, who got his last chips into the middle on a J,6o. He was called by Patrick Jonsson, who had an A,3o.
Lars Bonding survived the day, together with Steve O’Dwyer and Nicholas Levi.
