WPT Copenhagen – Day 2 Report

The second day of the WPT’s Copenhagen Main Event saw the field play down to the final 45. The player who finished the day with the largest stack of chips (445k) was Frei Dilling Kjaer, who is a relative unknown on the tournament circuit. Plenty of “name” pros managed to successfully navigate the treacherous waters of the
poker tournament successfully though: Steve O’Dwyer, Peter Jepsen and Sergii Baranov all finished Day 2 close to the top of the chip counts.
Kjaer’s road to the top was quite an eventful one: he managed to claim a notorious scalp too, that of Theo Jorgensen.
Jorgensen was the one to push all-in before the flop, with an A,Qo against Kjaer’s pocket Ks. The board did nothing to either hand involved and thus Jorgensen was out.
Steve O’Dwyer was struggling with some health-related problems, but that didn’t stop him from building up a massive stack. Of course, Lady Luck also had her fair share in his success: at one point, O’Dwyer pushed all-in holding pocket Qs against Robin Yitalo’s pocket rockets. The board fell a 2-6 straight though and the two ended up chopping the pot.
Baranov had finished the second day 1 flight of the event in the lead, and on Day 2, he continued his run. He took down a massive pot on a daring bluff, from Rasmus Nielsen at one point. He had nothing but a 5-high, but he managed to force his opponent to fold after he’d left a substantial amount of chips in the middle.
The start of the day chip leader was Andre Petrovic. The Swede may have had plenty of chips in the beginning, but he failed to make it to the finish line. Christian Honore was the one who eliminated him.
