WPT Copenhagen – Day 4 Report

Eighteen players returned to the tables of the WPT’s Copenhagen Main Event on the 4th day of action, looking to play down to the 6-handed final table. In about 4 levels, that objective has indeed been accomplished. The player to have built the largest stack going into the final stretch of the event was Emil Olsson, who had 2.2 million chips bagged at the end of the day.
The start of the day chip leader was Stanislav Barshak, who used his large stack to instigate a confrontation between Steve O’Dwyer and Frei Silling Kjaer, which then resulted in the first elimination of the day.
The two players got their chips into the middle on a classic coin-flip: Kjaer had A,K against O’Dwyer’s pocket Js. The flop fell K,9,9 and Kjaer took the lead. The 2 on the turn and the Q on the river didn’t help O’Dwyer’s case either and he was out.
The next all-in confrontation featured Peter Jepson and Bircan Cakar. Jepson had A,2o against Cakar’s K,10o. The money went all-in on the turn of a board of A,Q,J,9 and by that time it was clear that Cakar would be the winner of the hand.
That pot gave Cakar a more than welcome boost, but he wouldn’t make the final table either: he busted out in 9th place, picking up DKK 120k for his efforts.

The final table bubble was soon upon the survivors. Frei Silling Kjaer was the one who kicked off the pre-flop raising war in what would become the last hand of the day. He got Barshak to tag along. The chips went into the middle on the river of a A,9,8,Q,5 board. Kjaer had A,10o against Barshak’s two pair, and the poker tournament was wrapped up for the day.
