WPT Doyle Brunson Five Diamond – Day 4 Report

The 4th day of the WPT’s Doyle Brunson Five Diamonds World Poker Classic saw the field play down to the final 21, successfully leaving the money-bubble behind. Set for 45th place, the bubble was indeed the highlight and the main focus of the day.
At the beginning of the day, the 2010 champion of the same
poker tournament, and its 2011 and 2012 final table finisher - Antonio Esfandiari - was still in contention. The Magician was obviously aiming to make it four in a row, but this time, Lady Luck decided not to let him past the bubble: he faded away a few spots short of the money, sent packing by Matt Glantz. The two locked horns pushing all their chips into the middle before the flop, as Esfandiari had an A,9o against Glantz’s pocket Ks. The board didn’t help him out in any way and Esfandiari was gone. Glantz couldn’t really put the Magician’s last chips to good use either: he was bounced a bit later, within the same level. The one responsible for his elimination was Dan Martin.
Joey Weissmann than bit the dust in 48th place, followed to the rail by Cliff Josephy in 47th, and the bubble was reached. The one whose elimination would put this most formidable obstacle of all into the rearview mirror for all the remaining participants, was Kevin Eyster. Eyster got his last chips into the middle with a pair of Ks against Steven Silverman’s pair of Js. The river card was another J and Eyster was bounced on the receiving end of a bad beat.
The player who finished the day with the largest stack was Jean-Robert Bellande, who had 1.63 million chips at the final whistle.
Keith Tilston finished second, with 1.27 million chips to his name.
