WPT Emperors Palace Poker Classic – Final Table Reached

The WPT’s Emperors Palace Poker Classic played down to its final table on its 3rd day. Six players remained standing at the end of the Day 3 hostilities, among them reigning champion Dominik Nitsche from Germany, who took home $206.1k after winning this same event a year ago.
Nitsche is not in a bad shape this time around either: he finished the 3rd day with 875k chips, which makes him 3rd heading into the home stretch. The Day 3 chip lead went to one of the previous chip leaders, Eugen Du Plessis, who finished with a stack of 2.63 million.
Daniel Brits is the other large-stack, having finished Day 3 with 1.22 million chips.
A total of 27 players hit the green felt at the beginning of the day, looking to make that final table. With the money-bubble a distant memory, the pace of the action was not hindered by anything at all: a few players bit the dust and then the first high-profile player, Tom Koral, was sent packing. Koral got his last chips into the middle well, with a pair of Ks against Ka Kwan Lau’s pocket Js. Unfortunately for him though, the flop brought a third J for his opponent and his
poker tournament was over in 22nd place.
Jason Strauss followed him to the rail in 19th place, having been sent packing after his pocket Qs fell to Harold Brook’s pocket Ks.
Unlike Strauss, Benjamin Cole hit the rail at the receiving end of a bad beat. Daniel Brits pushed all-in on a board of J,10,5,Q with a K,Q for the top pair. Cole made the no-brainer call with pocket Qs. The river brought an A though and Cole was done.
Harold Brooks and Matt Lawrence were also eliminated on Day 3. Lawrence became the final table bubble-boy.
