WPT Foxwoods World Poker Finals – Day 4 Report

27 players returned to action on the 4th day of the WPT Foxwoods World Poker Finals. Andy Frankenberger entered the day with the largest stack, but at the end of the hostilities, the lead belonged to Christian Harder. The field of 27 played down to the final 8. Given that day 5 would be called with the reaching of the 6-handed final table, day 4 pretty much guaranteed that it would be an extremely short affair. With the money bubble out of the way, all those who returned on day 4 did so safe in the knowledge that they would pick up at least $19.9k. That’s exactly how much Alan Kessler, Cornel Cimpan and Josh Bergman picked up upon their exits.
As the field shrunk to the final two tables, the action slowed down quite a bit. Bernard Lee hit the rail in 16th place, followed by Matt Stout (in 14th) and Matt Glantz, who nearly made the final table, but then faded away in 12th.

The bubble of the unofficial final table was quite a spectacular one. Season I champion Hoyt Corkins, who had been nursing a short stack by that stage, locked horns with Season VII champion Jonathan Little. Corkins was the one who pushed all-in before the flop with an A,K. Little made the call with 8h, 9h. The flop fell Q,8,4 giving Little a measly pair of 8s. The 2 on the turn and the Q on the river preserved his frail advantage and Corkins was gone.
Andy Rossi was eliminated in 9th place by Chris Klodnicki and the final 8 was set. It was then that Harder got going, taking down a massive pot from Daniel Santoro. Harder had a Q,J for a top pair against Santoro’s 9d,7d. Even though he had a flush and a straight draw, Santoro failed to get there and Harder locked up the lead.
