WPT Foxwoods World Poker Finals – Day 5 Report

The 5th day of the WPT Foxwoods World Poker Finals was an extremely short affair: 8 players returned to action and the goal for the day was to play down to the 6-handed televised final table. All the pressure was on the short-stacks as the action kicked off. Eli Berg had the shortest stack at the beginning of the day, but Bob Carbone wasn’t in much better shape either. It was do or die time for both these guys, and Berg managed to catch a more than welcome double up at Jonathan Little’s expense.
Little was the one who kicked off the preflop action from the small blind. Berg wasn’t going to let go of his BB without a fight though and he raised Little. Little had pocket Ks so the call was quite a no-brainer for him. Berg got his chips into the middle as well, holding A,Jo. The board fell 8,7,5,A,5 and Berg got a lease on his tournament life.
Little was left crippled by the hand and it didn’t long for him to hit the rail. He was on the button and he shoved all-in before the flop. Steven Brackesy made the call from the BB. Brackesy had A,5o against Little’s 9h, 5h and Little found himself in an extremely bad shape. The board only brought another heart on the river and no 9s, which meant that Little could start packing.
Interestingly enough, none of the start of the day short-stacks were eliminated. The second and last victim of the day was Chris Klodnicki, who bit the dust at Brackesy’s hands too. Klodnicki shoved all-in on a flop of 5d, 4d, 3s, holding Ah, 5h. Brackesy had Ad, 6d for the nut flush draw. The Kd on the turn decided everything and Klodnicki was eliminated on the final table bubble.
The two eliminations he’d scored gave Brackesy the lead going into the final day.
