WPT Grand Prix de Paris – Day 1B Report

The second day 1 flight of the WPT’s Grand Prix de Paris saw 132 players belly up to the tables of the Aviation Club de France. This batch of registrants, added to day 1A’s 96, took the total field to 228. At the end of Day 1B, 92 players were left in contention. The 100k chip mark proved to be a goal impossible to reach: no one finished with that many chips. The eventual chip leader, Gregoire Boissenot managed to build a stack of 95,000 chips.
He wasn’t alone at the top of the pops though: Petter Jetten finished with a healthy stack of 83.5k and so did Matt Salsberg. What all this basically means is that the overall chip leader remains Jacques Enjoubault, whose 225k stack places him beyond reach for all Day 1B participants.
Local player Antoine Saout finished with a large stack as well (he had 77.7k chips bagged when the action was called).
Michael Mizrachi and Mohsin Charania were among the Day 1B survivors as well. Tony G and Fabrice Soulier joined the survivors too.
Tony G’s day started out nicely. In one of the first hands that he played, he ended up taking down a massive pot from Kyle Julius. Matt Salsberg on the other hand, had a pretty rough start: he dropped around two thirds of his stack before his slide stopped and he managed to get something going against Vanessa Selbst. Selbst’s straight flush draw fell to his turned set of Qs.
Vanessa Selbst then went on to bust out of the
poker tournament. She was followed to the rail by Guillaume Darcourt, he of the pink hair fame, Dan O’Brien and Roberto Romanello. All these players were on their re-buys. Ludovic Lacay and JC Alvarado on the other hand were on their first, yet they busted out regardless. The second day of the event takes place on Wednesday.
